Retail Fest 2025

The Challenge, with a tighter budget and growing competition, eBay needed to make a bold impact at Retail Fest 2025. The goal, remind existing sellers why they trust the platform, and inspire new sellers to join, all while celebrating eBay’s 25th birthday.

The Opportunity, eBay holds decades of seller data, product stats, and marketplace evolution, but most sellers don’t see the full picture.
 Our opportunity? Turn cold, hard stats into warm, human stories visualised through interactive design, birthday-themed branding, and conversation-sparking experiences.
 A campaign that informs, engages, and celebrates.

The Concept: “25 Years and Counting”

Insight: Sellers don’t always see their growth potential until it’s laid out in front of them.

We used eBay’s 25th birthday as a storytelling device, visualising seller success through data, design, and moments of delight.

  • Unified across digital, print, environmental design, and merchandise

  • Colour-coded system for easy navigation — with Yellow as the hero colour, chosen for:

  • High visibility in a large warehouse-style venue

  • Its symbolic link to fun, optimism, and energy

  • A playful, celebratory tone — never overly corporate

  • Branded juice bar featuring eBay’s heritage colours

Cocktail Party

  • Branded conversation starter cards (“Trading Cards”)

  • Photobooth and media wall

  • Trivia hosted by eBay staff (a low-fi alternative to digital activations)

  • eBay-coloured cocktails with branded ice cubes

  • Custom birthday cake inspired by eBay's quirky 1990s aesthetic — white exterior with stacked heritage-coloured sponge
